BMW has officially announced the new X5 and info is on the BMW USA website. There are also multiple pictures on autospies. It's 7.4 inches longer, 2.4 inches wider. Only 2 engines initially.

Nice find, that is a big improvement over the old. I do like the fact that the changes weren't too drastic. I am however still not fond of the rear rubber bumper.

I personally think the current X5 looks amazing, especially after the recent facelift and "Corona Rings" addition. Thankfully, the new one looks good though, and is not that radically different. I think the X5's praise was always in the interior, and while the new one isn't bad....it is cold, and boring. The gear selector is odd, and a pointless novelty. Either put it on the stalk like the 7 Series, or leave it alone, as a traditional gear selector. A traditional gear selector (like in the 3, 5, 6, X3, Z4, etc..) works, and is very rational and intuitive. Germans have to STOP trying to make something exotic, automated or unique...when it doesn't need to be done. Enough is enough. Ok...time to step off the Soapbox
