The Lochsa River in Northern Idaho is followed by U.S. Rte. 12 from Missoula Montana, down to Grangeville, Idaho. It is 100+ miles of turn after turn on a well maintained, paved highway, dropping thousands of feet in altitude. When you come up against traffic, you’re glad to see another car or motorcycle carving their way through the twisties, as the traffic is almost nonexistent. For the most part it is a sub 50-mph drive. If my wife goes, she likes our Corvette C5. If I ride solo, there’s nothing more fun than a motorcycle. If you have a hard time smiling or counter-steering, you’ll learn both well by the time you finish. Then turn around and go back the other way!
